The largest growth in brain development takes place during the early years.

Our vision is simple: for every child who leaves our program to meet North Carolina early learning standards and be on track to meet reading and math benchmarks by third grade.

We intend to take advantage of this crucial time by creating an environment where children learn through everything they touch. No moment is lost in expanding developmental skills. By using investigations rather than short, disconnected themes, active learning takes place over a long period, allowing for deeper exploration and understanding of big ideas.

We will achieve this by providing an intentional educational experience built on trust and partnership with our families. We see ourselves as more than just a childcare center; we are your child's first educational partner.

Our teachers are the backbone of our organization.

Teachers set the tone for their classroom. In order to achieve our vision, we must meet children where they are developmentally and provide equal opportunities for them to grow. It is important our teachers understand that children are not born with the ability to control impulses or focus their attention; they develop these skills with the help of caring adults. A Step Forward E.L.A. believes in building authentic, non-judgmental relationships with every child, as research shows that caring relationships with teachers lead to increased motivation and academic performance.
